Music Music not only is my hobby, but its my life. Ever since I can remember music has played a big role in my life. When I was little all I remember is my mom sitting on the ground with me in the living room playing her records and singing along with it. She listened to a lot of great bands/artists. I remember listening to the beatles, led zeppelin, jimi hendrix, carpenters, beach boys, and many many other great legends now. My dad on the other hand like soul and jazz music. He would listen to people like Miles Davis, Sade, Stevie Wonder, and very many people I can't even name because I remember all of my dads music by ear mostly. If I hear a song he used to listen to somewhere it reminds me of times when I was little and on weekends we would go on trips and he would have his cassettes in the car telling me to listen to how wonderful these artists are. At the time I thought it was such a bore and I liked the music my mom listened to a lot more at the time. Now I have come to appreciate jazz and soul music. For me jazz music really hit me when in High School. I joined the Stage/Jazz Band and for the first time I learned the art of which is Jazz music. My fellow jazz band members and my instructor all inspired me. Whether they knew it or not, they all opened up a huge door for me which I had closed previously. I played the trumpet at this time and I felt a real connection with the music when I was in the high school jazz band for the last 3 years of my high school years. We went to festivals and many other events to compete and/or to just play for some people. Best yaers of my life.. After High School ended I didn't touch my trumpet anymore, but I became more acquainted with all the music out there. I had found my passion for collecting mp3s as I thought it was a great way of listening to artists/bands you have never heard of until you downloaded it. I have found very many of my favorite music right now because of the availability to download music and listen to them. After I know I like a certain artist/band I would go out and buy their album to support them. That is just me, but I find it that if I like their music and I have the money to buy their album why not support them. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get an album out and I think they deserve my money if I enjoy their music. Whats my dream? Well, I always wanted to become a singer, but I don't have the confidence nor the talent to pull this off. Some say I have a good voice, but professionals will say I will never be a pro. I have a good voice for someone that sings everyday to music she enjoys and that is the extent of it. Harsh, but the truth I've heard from very many professional singers. I will continue to have music in my life. Ever since High School I have had an obsession to learn to play the Bass Guitar. Maybe I will do that one of these days when I get the time to do so. We can all dream and I will forever dream to become a famous singer ;) lol
